The word AWANA comes from the verse in the bible found in 2 Timothy 2:15. AWANA stands for:

As believers in Jesus Christ, we cannot be ashamed of spreading the gospel of truth. Every believers' mission should be the Great Commission. The bible says, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature." (Mark 16:15)
Awana Clubs helps us to do just that. We teach children and youth the truth about God's Word (The Bible) through the studying of God's Word, scripture memorization, and practical application. They learn about God, His Son Jesus, and the importance of telling others about God.
The Awana year begins in October and ends in May. Awana Clubs is designed for preschoolers all through high school grades. Our clubs are divided into four different groups. We have Sparks (ages 5-7), T&T (ages 8 - 10), Trek (middle school ages).
